My artwork is meant to depict things in relation to nature and art. It mainly consists of blues, purples, and pinks. Although, I do feel like I could’ve done a better job at actually presenting the idea. I think my piece does focus more on the idea of how it pleases the eye. When people look at my piece I want them to think of the beauty in surroundings and art. I want them to feel almost at ease or pleased.
I used photos that I gathered from Google Images and then rounded up all the images I wanted to use and began working in Photoshop. It was a long process, and I thought it would be harder that I thought but it’s something I got the hang of. I gathered at least 15 to 20 pictures to use for my collage. I made sure that I knew what my plan was so I had pictures that all gave a sense of unity when put together. I had a side view photo of me taken, which I would upload to Photoshop and use as my base for my silhouette. It took a lot of rearranging to get the look I liked. I didn’t even end up using all the photos I gathered in the first place, which is fine. When I finished the silhouette part I added a background that would create contrast to make my silhouette pop. I didn’t have a person that I used as an inspiration for this piece, but I used my interest in my surroundings as inspiration. It’s about how nature and art correlate in terms of the beauty behind it.
From creating this artwork I think I learned a lot in the basics of Photoshop. It taught me things like making unity, contrast, and even just challenged my skill in thinking differently in layout. I don’t do too many things like collages since I do more drawing, so for me at least it required me to more thinking in how it will look and how everything will go together in the end. Also because I kept overthinking a lot and changing things. The final piece is kind of what I imagined but not entirely. Overall, I think I did well and I am satisfied with the way it came out.
