Stop Motion Animation Update [5]

I began animating today with the StikBot app. It is very time consuming and it requires a lot of patience and the ability to stay still (which I’m sure will deplete more and more over time). I got in 2 seconds of my animation video today. I’m a bit concerned if I’ll make my clip to at least 30 seconds but I will try my best to make it work and come out as good as I’m capable.

Stop Motion Update [4]

This class I finished up the details on my set. I added some food onto the picnic blanket, but it’s not finished. I plan to take those home to color. I also tried to make the blanket and basket bigger so it’s more proportional with the birds. I also made sure to download StikBot Studio and I will try to begin using it to start my stop motion next class.

Celebrity Art Prints Artist Statement

For my celebrity art prints project, I decided the make prints of the singer H.E.R. Going into this project I planned to use the colors yellow, red, blue, and green. I didn’t stick to that idea and just picked colors that I liked. I ended up with blue, pink, red, and green. Altogether, the process was long (for me specifically). Once I picked a photo of a celebrity I like I took it into Photoshop and began adding the grayscale and the filter. The longest part for me was after adding the color and I had to smooth out the roughness. I’m pretty proud of the finished product though. I didn’t have a set plan for what I wanted my piece to feel(?) when you look at it. I tried to keep a theme of pastel-like colors but I’m not sure if I kept that theme well. I think this project challenged my patience and time management while working on it. I spent a long time on trying to perfect it and that took a while. Overall, I like the final product of my piece.

Stop Motion Update [3]

Today I’ve made my background for my animation. I’ve pretty much done all of the essentials of the background. I plan to add some food on the picnic blanket and maybe add another basket (?) I’m thinking of adding cuts to the leaves and the bark of the tree so they can move. I also realized that the birds looks too big for the set so I’m not sure if I’ll go along with it or make them smaller.

Stop Motion Update [2]

Today I just cut out some more pieces to my characters. I next class I should be done with the limbs. I just have to make some cuts on them so that they can make specific movements. Like for example on the beak I made a split so that it can move. Next I’ll make some cuts on the wings so they can move.

Stop Animation – Storyboard Planning

Today I created a story for my stop animation project. I had a hard time coming up with a good and interesting story, and I’m still not 100% pleased with what I came up with, but it’s the first decent idea that came to mind. My story is a bout a baby seagull who is jealous of his elders because they get to do “cool” things (aka, stealing food). He takes it upon himself to try and be as cool as his elders, but he realizes that it isn’t for him.

Room Design Project – Artist Statement

For my room design project I decided to create and design a dorm room. I tried my best to try and incorporate as many things possible that would portray what a student’s dorm room might look like. I tried my best to find as many items to add into the room as possible to give it more depth. I added things such as a pile of clothes, a rug, and random things like a bag of chips and a bottle of water on the desk. I didn’t have any initial source of inspiration for this project, I kind of just brainstormed and did the first thing that came to mind. So, I started planning, and from there searching for images that might work well with my room. I didn’t use all of the photos I gathered initially, but I think the images I wound up in the end worked just fine. I struggled with finding certain pieces of furniture that were in perspective such as the bed and the desk. I don’t think this piece evokes any specific emotion, but I kind of just wanted it to look decent and realistic. I like my final piece but if I could go back and change something it’d be the wallpaper and maybe add a couple more details and furniture.

Room Design Update [4]

I’ve laid out everything the way I want it to look. It took a while for me to find a desk that fits the perspective and looks realistic, but after searching I found one that fits not perfectly, but it fits good enough. I added extra details like putting throw pillows on the bed, added a chip bag and water bottle on the desk, and adding a plant to fill up some space. I hope to have this finished by next class. All I have left to do is touch up with some erasing, since I just did a quick erasing job to lay everything out and see how it looks.
